Nestled in the heart of The Purbecks The Halfway Inn is steeped in tradition. Parts of the pub date back some 400 years. We offer all the charms of an Olde-Worlde Dorset Inn.


The Halfway Inn is one of the top places to enjoy freshly cooked food at its best. Brigette, our Head Chef, is renowned for her cuisine and has worked tirelessly to produce a menu that caters for all tastes. Her ever changing menu reflects the fresh meat and fish available each day, and covers everything from rack of lamb to homemade steak and kidney suet pudding, sirloin steak to her own recipe spicy chicken curry. For fish lovers there are a number of dishes, including sea bass, haddock and salmon.

Freshly Carved Sunday Roasts

Our Sunday roasts are second to none. Brigette is so passionate about her jus it takes her three days to prepare it! All roasts come with roast potatoes, freshly prepared vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. We alternate our meat choices each week between, beef, lamb, pork and chicken. A vegetarian option is always available.
